Well in my opinion it all depends on track surface condition. Some tire materials can be smooth or too much grip for drifting affected by the surface. For ABS, we don't use it and is not popular down here, in fact Yokomo rings are ABS. They worn faster than PVC, suitable for tarmac but not for concrete cement pavement. Yokomo Super Drift is not a bad tire for drift, just that it costs a lot more to run compare to PVC. And being ABS ring + rubber, it is more suitable for large track and tarmac. We found that PVC is the best thus far, cost wise and performance. It can perform well on tarmac and concrete capable of pulling tight cornering while at reasonable wear rate. After trying different type for a while, you'll know what i mean.

PVCs tires $3.50 each set. ABS not going to release in this year. Drift meet/comp/workshop only allow to use PVCs.

You can't use them in our drift meets though, they might be better but the price is also a turn off :yuck:
EDIT: I remember trying out hell007's tt01d with tamiya drift tires, when the car drifts it seems as if its hopping

Hi, new to drifting. Just asking, are X-hard tyres able to make the RC car drift as well as PVC tyres?? Which is better really depends on your personal preference and driving style. I fail to see which is better over the other as this is really super subjective. I use both Tamiya D's and PVCs for different cars. NO harm trying til you find what suits your tastes

ahh instead off geting the black pvc i got some white plastic stuff its really slick i get no straight line traction what so ever what could i do to get more traction?

The use of PVC tire is to lose traction. To go straight, you need to control your Throttle. Don't sudden throttle, this will make your car spin uncontrolled.

hey guys, most of us know that PVC/ABS tyres are much cheaper then the "professional" drift tyres. But does the pro drift tyres give more speed and more grip, because i`m havin alot of difficulty counter steering. where can i buy the tyres?

if everyone else can drift using the pvcs so can you. as wj says, just need to practice, there's no shortcut to improving skill just by buying different tyres. if u really wanna buy the drift tyres despite this, u can get them from most of the rc shops. prices ranging from 40 - 70 dollars for a set of 4 depending on the brand.

Rome you might want to get ABS tyres from Bryant if you really want to change, it's better than PVC i believe. If ABS still not good for you. Someone on yahoo auctions singapore selling yokomo drift tyres. Keyword: Yokomo Drift. I have no idea if it is worth it but he says it's for a set. Go check it out if you want. Plus, you might need to get Yokomo rims, $30+- a set of 4 , can get from Bryant. But if it is easier, then you will not be able to unleash your full potential of your skills as the tyres is doing more of the job for you. Maybe you can try 1 set of the drift tyres or abs, once you get the hang of it, go back to PVC.

Rome for the benefit of myself too. I checked it out, he says it is the best tyres, only can use on yokomo.
Its in the middle of 20 and 30. I might consider buying one set to try. Heh
