For drifters wannbe...here r some data on how to make yur car slide...yur magic drift tyres(PVC/ABS pipe)...
All of us here r using 1/10 EP cars...to make it slide...u will need to convert yur standard rubber tingy to the ultimate drift tyre using PVC...
Go to yur nearest hardware store...look for the 50mm grey pipe wif the 0.5mm thickness(thicker)type... go home n cut it up abt 25mm wide...
now...installing the tyre...u can use some electrical tape to tape yur inner rim...then force yur tyre over it... or...heat method which i preferred...tat is to heat yur cut tyre using yur stove...to soften the PVC...then slide it over yur rim...n drop it in cold ice n water...u will get yur super none slip drift tyre for rcDRIFT...
happy drifting ;D

sorry to kaypoh, rick. but i think the pvc pipe thickness is about 4mm, and not 0.5mm, right? that would be too thin... and 50mm is the inner diameter of the pipe, not outer.
just to add a bit, try to find wheels that have "ribs" on the inside. I find that boiling the PVC "tyres" also work, besides safer without the fumes they give out if u use an oven. Put on the PVC tyres while they're still hot, and when they cool down they tend to shrink back to their original size. That's why getting wheels with ribs help, because without them, the PVCs tend to shrink more in the middle than the edges, resulting in the tyres running with very little contact with the ground. Also, if you use wheels without ribs the PVCs tend to slip out very easily.

OEi!!!
my BBS also very nice hor.... ;D FYI, rims do affect drifts as well... initially, i thought RC rims will not affect much but later, got to know that little counts...
the design of the rims like offset, 5spokes, 6spokes, 26mm wide, etc.. they all plays a part in drifting...
Cheers.

can use electric tapes instead of pvc??heard pvc dun gives much in straights
|
|
|
Post by domonizo on Dec 17, 2004 20:23:09 GMT 7
of course you can...tape does give you better straight..but pvc gives you more drift...try both, then pick the one you prefer more...you nvr know, pvc might work better..

pvc is slow but consistent. for tape it gets unpredictable after a while..
so generally most ppl in sg uses pvc.

Hi Guys,
I just thinking, we spend $$$ for killer looks chrome wheels, red hot copies of the real thing bodies and then put PVC tyres, I mean where in the world got real cars with[glow=teal,2,300]GREY[/glow]colored tyres ?
Surely there must be some better materials than PVC for drifting tyres.
I'm thinking of black colored O rings or hard rubber tubes
........of course, the best would be black colored PVC ! but where to find ?
Happy Crabbing !

Went to Jalan Besah 2 look 4 PVC today, finally found 1 old junk shop with 2" PVC. The old grannie running the store only got 4 ft of pipe left !!!! Btw, any of you guys ever run your cars with regular tyres in a dusty, unswept badminton hall ?
