there's no need in the first place to offset your rim. The PVC recently sold is 26mm instead of older 24mm. Using a matching 26mm rims (mostly of Tamiya's) shave only the outer and two inner ribs, while the last one that's nearest to chassis untouched. When you slide in the PVC onto the rim it will hug only those 3ribs and stop at the inner rib. This way you won't suffer any rubbing to any part of your car.

I have recently fixed my TT-01 with plastic pipe tyre whose width is bigger than the rim width. As such, the PVC pipe (rear wheel) touched the chasis. This has caused the pipe to rubbed against some part of the car chasis when the rear wheel spins. I got the rim and pipe from Winnie. I've to changed to a thicker spacer to get the wheel to protrude out slightly. Is this the way to handle ? Pls advise...thanks , bro, you have to fixed the pvc into the rim from the front of the rim. the pvc off set will face towards outside.

so, has anyone tried both ABS and pvc? cause i heard abs has a bit more grip, which is better for controlling your car... ps... are they really using videos on vids like this www.frequency-rc.com/movies/SGDrifters4.mpg they say they are, but the tires are black.. not white or grey like pvc... black like abs.... just wanted to know

Referring to the pic you posted at img243.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pict22919sk.jpgI realize that your tires are the same width as your rims..how did you shave off the excess ? My tires kinda unsightly coz they protrude out from the rims. Any performance issues if I shave off the excess ?

i haf a question here.. only speedmind rims can fit into PVC tyres? or is there any other brand can fit in PVC? Of course other brands of rims can fit a pvc......''IF'' you can fit it....lol.... other brand rims are not as flexible as speedmind rims....i think they might be smaller in diameter(correct me if i'm wrong)...so fitting other rims might be a tad problem........ There are ways of fitting rims to pvc other than speedminds.....this issue was already covered in another thread....i think you can search for it lah....cuz i also not sure where it is...

i have a spare rims.. donno if its a speedrim or not.. included when buying the 2nd hand car.. i bought a ft of 50mm pvc pipe from hardware shop for $1.50 i just cut 4 pcs of 25mm length each (measure again the rim width).. using small hacksaw.. quite tough ok now the tough part... to fit the pvc to the rim.. this is wat i did.. might not be the correct way.. the outer dia. of the rim is slightly bigger than the inner dia. of the pipe.. maybe 2mm as stated by a bro in this thread. i file off the rim to fit the pvc. i used small file (the only i have)... sheezzz.. i think i spend 1 hr just to file the ribs of these rims.. when i feel the dia of the rim and pvc is the same.. i whacked the pvc with hammer to the rim tight fit. forget about boiling the pvc... it wont work... the pvc might get deform when u try to force fit them while hot. ive tried and i know.. maybe i dont have the skill.. haha donno when will have a free time to try the pvc tyres..

Where can i get smaller pvc tyres? the ones that winne sell is in excess of my speedmind rims Haha..question have been asked time and time again in the other threads...answered in the PVC/ABS thread but nvm..I'll answer it ! Yes the tires are "wider" than the Speedmind rims but as long as the front tires doesnt scrape the bodyshell when turning it should be ok..if you want you can shave off the access..but will have a SLIGHT loss holding power (according the winnie). Also..can try a few rounds after you fitted it to make sure they dont slip off the rims..if they do just wrap some black tape 4-5 rounds per wheel to make it tight.

For drifters wannbe...here r some data on how to make yur car slide...yur magic drift tyres(PVC/ABS pipe)... All of us here r using 1/10 EP cars...to make it slide...u will need to convert yur standard rubber tingy to the ultimate drift tyre using PVC... Go to yur nearest hardware store...look for the 50mm grey pipe wif the 0.5mm thickness(thicker)type... go home n cut it up abt 25mm wide... now...installing the tyre...u can use some electrical tape to tape yur inner rim...then force yur tyre over it... or...heat method which i preferred...tat is to heat yur cut tyre using yur stove...to soften the PVC...then slide it over yur rim...n drop it in cold ice n water...u will get yur super none slip drift tyre for rcDRIFT... happy drifting ;D So I decided to make a set of the pvc tires as the abs one's mine came with are really worn. I bought the 50mm pvc pipe, cut it into 4 sections(25mm per piece), and found that they are too small to go over my tires. I initially heated them up in the oven, but when i went to put em on, they looked really bad. About how long are we suppose to heat them up, and at what temp? In doing this, shoud the plastic expand to the point that it slips over the wheel easily, or is there moderate force involved? Like I said, i tried the oven idea, but when I went to put them on, they still didn't fit. It just got hung up on the sides, and crumpeled. Any help would be appreciated.

dude it is not suppose to go over your tires, it is suppose to go over the rims/wheels. Depends on the rim's diameter is how much you need to expand the PVC. Over here most of us use Speedmind rims, they do not need to be pre-heated. Just slide sideways halfway in and stomp 'em or use vise if you have. Perfect fit.

My apologies. i didn't mean over the tire, I meant over the rim. I't evedint I need to shave the rim down a bit, So i guess I have even more work cut out for me. By the way, are there any Speedmind rims avaliable on line?

I've been recently rebuilding a tt01 car that i bought off of ebay a few weeks ago, and wha tseemed to be a great buy has turned into a very strenuous project. I wound up having to basically rebuild everything. All the bearings have been replaced, the servo and esc have been rewired, bothe differentials have been rebuilt and cleaned, one has been replaced, the shocks, bulkheads, body posts, and front and rear lower plates have been replaced, I upgraded the drive shaft to an alluminum propeller shaft, the motor mount has been replaced by an alluminum one, I upgraded the shocks to mediums up front, and stiffs in the back, and even dropped in a brand new silver can 540 motor. In my pursuit to make the perfect drifter, I noticed that the abs tires that the car came with were very worn. I ordered a couple of sets of rims, and pre cut ant edge rounded abs tires, and am now waiting for those. Today, i went to the mail box, and got a very good surprise. I had totally forgotten that I had ordered 2 sets of yokomo super drift tires, rims, and a couple extra sets of rings. I mounted the tires and rims on my car and took it for a spin. These things rock. My question is this. How do they stack up to fresh abs tires, and to pvc? Like I said, the pvc tires I have now are really worn, so drifting on those is mediocre at best.
