okay heres the lowdown on the testing last night... 2 sets of track last night... kudos to dabomb and team(a few guys but dun noe their names... only noe IZ ) chassis: HPI PRO 2 shell: HPI Silvia motor: tuned 23T(meanin timing changed including the springs), geared at 5.89 setup: no change except more droop on both front and rear and of course locked front and rear result: impressive... manages to hold drift on big sweeper... oso able to turn better on tighter corners... but theres a slight understeer for tight turns... 2 possible reason... motor gearing and shock oil... motor gearing too low need to be higher... thus not enough torque... this should also improve on big sweeper... no wonder the pvc wear not as high as when it was geared at 7plus... shock oil too thick... will go lower in order to make the car transfer weight faster especially to the front.. will update again... so stay tune...

marah, are you currently using 40wt shock oil? thanks for posting the findings. yes... will be changing to 20wt... might also change the shock piston...

|
Post by poleposition on Oct 5, 2005 12:09:55 GMT 7
understand GTO using 50wt oil for his TC3 so i guess his pistion must be using at 3H or else the shock will be too stiff. as for you to use 20wt, will use use 2H or 3H?

I will stick with oneway at the moment and try for lighter oil and/or softer springs, to make it more stable on the big sweeper. Will try from hard spring to soft ones. Oil will be 200.

since i've retired the pro2...rather it was forced into retirement ;D my new drift chassis is the tl01... and after the initial run last night... i will b stickin to tis chassis for the time being cos it drifted so well and its maintance free... will b doin some minor setup tweak to see if it can be improved further... but the current setup already rocks...
Setup Chassis: TL01 with long arm Shell: Mercs Front: HPI Gold Springs/40wt/3holes/white roll bar/droop a lot Rear: HPI Silver Springs/40wt/3holes/white roll bar/droop a lot F/R Diff: suppose to be lock, but after checking, its now loose... guess need to stuff more blue tack Motor: 23Turn Gearing: Stock with 21teeth
Will change the roll bar to the gray ones(harder) to see if its better

except for the big sweeper which sometimes spun in the midway, it's more stable. Notice the sluggishness as expected during chicane cornering. Not so fantastic on high speed drift but highly controllable on slow speed. FR shocks: TA blue spring, 200wt oil, 3holes.
tested Marah's car and it's significantly even more controllable even on big sweeper and chicanes...but controlling throttle and steering wise is very active..which may not be so suitable for beginners except hardcore's.

Overall good driftable car...like what GTO said....not suitable for beginners....even i find it hard to control....lol..... For my driving....oversteer is ok....but not too much.....getting the car to drift is easy....but determining how much of angle you want the car to go sideway is rather tricky.....ultimate steering control is a must for this car..... ;D ;D In which i don't posses....lol ;D ;D

marah,
just wondering what makes you want to choose to use a TL01 chassis instead of others including the TT-01D? Any partitcular reason?
