i am posting this thread in hope to help let people understand more on RC Drifting.
Owns a RC car ------------------ if one is a RC fan alreay and owns a 4WD EP/GP 1:10 car that is in running condition, all you have to do is just to switch to our "specially-formulated" tyres and you can start drifting away.
New to RC ------------- if you don't have a RC car, it is also not too hard to start drifting. Just get yourself a 1:10 EP(Electric Powered) RTR(Ready-to-Run) car(cheaper than GP), batteries, chargers and of course, our "special" tyres. Cars that are good to drift, while keeping the price tag low would be the Tamiya TL-01 and TT-01.
Hope it helps. Cheers!

look and get hooked. that's what happened to me. ;D that's why I bought the Tamiya TL-01 purely for drifting. Entry-level 1/10 EP 4WD. Cheap. Although still need to buy bearings for effeciency. anyway, i've been playing RC cars for almost 20 years. This is definitely the COOLEST way to play. There's no satisfaction like nailing the perfect racing line going sideways. wish i could do that with my front-wheel-drive peugeot 206 tho...

hi i used to play rc and own one quick drive tamiya rc car. its a rwd so i think its not adquate enough.i believe you guys recommnad tt-01 or tl-01 chasis for starters. But to my knowledge, they come in kits and not the RTR, ready to run type. also can some kind soul recommand which shops to buy from??i'm pretty clueless. the last time i went to search for rc was at the distributor of taimiya cars bear buguis.he quoted me ard 190 for the kits.thx in advance.

thx bro in fact i want to get a kit rather than a RTR cos i wanna to learn how to build one.shdnt be that hard right?how much would a new one cost??is it possible to buy everything under 400?? it's good to build the car yourself, it really helps you to understand the car. but i would recommend a pro building/helping you by the side, to give you a tip or two, as well as point out some important stuff about the car. under $400, i'm not too sure. should be able too. example: -chassis(TL01/TT01) - $160 -controller set which includes servo & rx(2PHKA) - $100+ -ESC(sanwa F12B, with a 16+T motor limit) - $60 -batts(tamiya 1700Nicad) - 1 pack for about $20? -charger(TLP charger with charge/discharge function) - $110? -motor(27T, johnson motor) - $20? -not forgetting some PVCs - <$10? the prices i gave are rough estimation, 1st hand goods. but if you can get some of the items for 2nd hand, then it would be cheaper. ;D hope this information would help.

Hi just for your info the TT01 with a entry level ESC cost about 160-180 with a stock motor and a controller cost about 100+ and 2 pack of batterys cost about 20+ so the total cost is about 400+- so i think it is well in your buget.
If u need any help on buying or fixing the tt 01 just give me a call and will help u the best i could.

for now ,we'll usually meet at kovan..its already near to the east...its not for my own convenience..
its for everyone cos its accessible(near to mrt).
i'm staying in choa chu kang and got to bring all the track markers everytime..so definitely its not easy for me also...
btw svg84r.. where do u stay?
maybe you can find a good location so that we can hold a drift session near your place sometime?

You'll be able to find NiCd batteries from 1700 to 2400 Mah and NiMh from 3000 to 3600 Mah.
The NiCd will give more voltage bt shorter run time, my advise is to stay away from the 3000 Mah NiMh Cells they are 1st generation NiMh and are extremely fragile !
Most of the Grip racers are now using GP 3300 NiMh cells which has the voltage and hardyness of NiCd but without the memory effect.
You can go Winnie's place to look 4 a reasonable peak charger (Please note that some of the top of the line chargers costs more than a thousand bucks !)
Cheerio and happy sideways !
