you know, i've been reading up a little on Mini Zs as well. you can drift in those, right? does anyone here have any experience with Mini Zs? do any of you drift with them?
i wonder if they're generally cheaper (chassis, hop ups and all) than 1/10 cars like the ones you guys use. budgetbudget!!
edit: just watched some mini z 'drifting' videos. either the guy trying to drift wasn't really skilled, or using the wrong tyres, or something, but the car couldn't hold the drift at all. looked more like a powerslide out of a corner.. guess 1/10 is still the way to go. someone please correct me if i'm wrong, though!

haha.. well ESC ish Electronic Speed Controller... a sort of management unit tat is placed in ur chassis... hm.. btw mini-z are quite ex... hard to drift too.. cuz a bit small.... (correct me if im wrng..) and tt-01 is pretty cheap.. for a chassis that u can use for driftin, itz a pretty gd 1/10 driftin machine.. (small doesnt mean cheaper! ;D ;D

Right now, the venue we drifting on every Tues nite is not very suitable for reving GP cars. Why dun you get your EP car first and master drifting on that, maybe when we find another suitable location where we can make all the noise we want without anyone complaining then go get a GP car ? I'm just itching to see how well my VoneRR can drift ! ;D but my GP car rev le is not very loud lehZ... in open areas its even more soft....

TT-01 kit is a good starting point because of the price value that is most affordable for beginners. Some of the drifters even prefer this Kit over the more advance 'Drift Package' kit. Practice makes perfect so the more track time, the better skill you'll find yourself in. Very rare that you get it all correct the first time...unless you got talents. There are many site on the net about how to go around RC cars driving techniques, equipments and so on and I've posted some here again for you to see. Getting Started in RC www.gettingstartedinrc.com/cars/index.aspBasic Driving Skill (mind you, not drifting skill) www.modelflight.com.au/rc_model_support/tamiya_basic_driving_skills.htm Please feel free to approach other drifters especially when they're off track. They are all approachable and nice, so dun hold yourself back from asking. Guys like Zhirong, Alex, Rubbish, Iz and the rest I'm sure won't mind sharing some info on howtos. You're most welcome to watch and join us every Tue at S'goon MSCP, pls see Drift Meet Board for most updated info.

I think it's essential to upgrade all the plastic bearings to ball bearings, if you haven't done so already. Makes the car much smoother to run. Plastic bearings impose so much friction that I heard it can strip your gears, especially if you've switched to a lower gearing, or faster motor.
Then you should get a higher teeth pinion (24, 25T) and a lower teeth spur (58T). They would give you a higher top speed, which is good for holding longer corners.
The gurus like Rubbish have given more advice in other posts. Can search around the forum on his posts.
For drifting on those HDB void decks or MSCP floors that are very smooth, try wrapping electrical tape around your rubber tires & drifting with those. They are less drifty than PVC and suitable for very smooth surfaces.

a good car is: - setup adjustable - well balanced - good range of possible gearing - easy to maintain - parts easy to find, cheap lagi best - reasonably tough

whats the difference between lithium and nickle?? They are made of different material and technology. The mainstream now for the RC Car use is NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride). NiCd or Nickel Cadmium is phasing out (capacity upto 2400mAH)-tedious maintenance battery. Li-Po or Lithium Polymer is lightest of all but the whole technology (battery, charger, etc) is not mature enough for RC hobbyist to enjoy. They can explode during charging, can't be fully drain, not capable of high amp discharge, etc. Li-Po pricing is the most expensive and risky considering the instabilities it possess. Latest NiMH is upto 3800mAH (current value for money for beginner is 3300mAH). The bigger the capacity, the longer the run time. NiMH is the easiest to take care of; charge-discharge for a few times in a day is not a problem (compare to NiCd) as long as sufficient cooling is met in charge & use interval. They take punishment well and has value over the performance.

(depend on the setting and the way you drive too) when is the next drift meet up? any newbies here wanna meet up with me>?? i also needs new rims and tires... what is the best for me>??/ price doesnt matter.... every tuesday, for location check the drift meet board. get speedmind rim, they fit the PVCs nicely. winne selling at $10 for a pack. (8 rims) PVCs for $3.50 (4 tires)

Mini Zs are 2WD (RWD) for RC, it's impossible to carry a drift lika a 4WD. Reason behind 1/24 RWD can't drift as well as 1/1 RWD is the car weight & power to weight ratio are different/not scallable.

im using a smartech car.... dont really know which model.. i tried drifting today.. i cant even drift for long...can just do normal 180 turn.... i thought 2500mah will effects the speed of the car... my car in ready for a few rounds of drift.. but sometimes controller sot sot.. the car wont respond to the controller..
