well, right now i'm using 41T pinion with a sport-tuned motor (with the stock spur gear), i find it's a very good combination for speed and power.

but we have to lower the ratio or increase the ratio to get more speed?

but we have to lower the ratio or increase the ratio to get more speed? if you're sticking to the stock spur gear, you'll need to lower the ratio to get more speed, i.e. the pinion size (or rather the no. of teeth on pinion gear) needs to be increased from what you're currently using. increase pinion size = lower gear ratio = higher max speed but poorer acceleration decrease pinion size = higher gear ratio = lower max speed but better acceleration other factors that affect speed would be the motor used and also the battery output. for the cyclone s i would suggest not going more than 43T for the pinion (41T is already quite a lot), cuz if you overgear (i.e. gear ratio too low) you'll put too much stress on the motor.

made some changes to my gear ratio - i use 38T pinion now (used to be 41T); i like the smoother acceleration. gear ratio is now 6.16:1 (from the previous 5.70:1).
