hey sideways, glad to see ur cyclone s is up and running. here are some thoughts that i have on the chassis after running it for almost 2 mths. if you have the cash, your next hop up shld be the middle upper deck and the other plastic parts surrounding the motor cos the biggest problem i have experienced so far with mine are the heat issues. the motor tends to heat up alot faster than on my tt-01 even though they are the same. the solution is to change all of the above to aluminium. if you dont know what i am talking abt, just ask sia at tai sing. he will explain everything. also, you might want to get the belt tensioner set so you can adjust belt tension if you are interested in playing around with the settings. and to complete the bling look, battery heat sink? purple aluminium shock covers? ;D welcome to the hpi racing club p/s: no need to post set up la. as far as i know, only two of us using. dun need to waste everyones time and clutter the forum. wait until got other ppl start using and ask question bah. if u want to discuss setup can just PM to drift kamikaze: dun buy cyclone s, buy the cyclone hara edition. more bling. more gian.

zul, what prompted me to change was that i felt belt-drive cars just seem to run smoother than shaft-drive cars. especially after seeing (and hearing) marah drive a trueno one of the nights at serangoon. i was thinking, man, this car is smooth! dr.drift drifts d**n well. strictly just my personal opinion though, i'm sure there are those who may disagree. after connecting the electronics, i tested the throttle. compared to the tt-01, this car is smooth as butter! yupz, anyone coming this sun is welcome to try my cyclone s! although it's totally un-tuned as yet and i'll probably take a couple of weeks to really dial it in properly, not to mention get used to the car. and oh btw i'm trying out the car with a front one-way differential and a solid rear axle this sun. so those of you trying it don't be suprised if it reacts/handles differently from the front/rear ball diff setup ;D. agp, i think the car with all the hop-ups right now (minus the electronics) is probably about $400+ or so. d**n hpi for making these pretty but expensive purple bling bling ;D. most of the stuff i got for the functionality and/or improved performance, some mainly for the bling. hard to resist, especially when taising stocks almost everything for the car. standard cylcone edition is $720, hara and surikarn editions $790, prices from taising b/f discount. the andy moore edition should around the hara edition price. great thing about the cyclone s is that it can use the same parts as its more expensive cousins. so one option is that you can choose to get the cyclone s and upgrade just the bits that you want (self-restraint needed here like i do, without having to pay the full price. but if you're the type who wants bling all the way then go straight to the hard/surikarn editions, because it's more economical getting all the bling in one package. too high end for me, i'm pretty much done with all the hop-ups for now and any others i get will be strictly if i really need the better functionality. at least that's what i tell myself lol... X, thx for the feedback. i know which areas you refer to, i will monitor it. i have the belt tension set but don't intend to try it out yet, but at a later stage. a lot more parameters to play around with on this car compared to the tt-01, which is great. as for the battery heat sink/holder, that thing is $53 b/f discount ;D... whew! metal shocks for $63 a pair... whoa... those things are definitely out for me . but the purple shock covers may still be considered in the future, not too ex ;D. although it's just the 2 of us using the cyclone s for now (there may be more after this sun lol), i may still post my setup if i arrive at a decent one. so that anyone using or considering the cyclone s for drifting (not just in singapore) can have some base to work from, plus others can also comment on the setup and offer suggestions for improvement too.

Always start from the stock setup... believe me!!! rather than playing wif one ways... try to xperiment wif the droop(downstop), roll center... BUT before pple get the wrong idea... i NEVER say tat cannot drift wif oneways har!!! cos it can be DONE!!! my TC4 is using oneways!! hmm seems like i sober down a bit!!! hahaha

hmm... ur differential choice is abit interesting. let me know how it turns out. so far ball/ball has provided me with the slow fluid type of drift.
and you got discount frm tai sing??? or is there storewide sale on parts as well. if got faster post, i know a few guys who will be dashing down if that were the case (me included).
and ouch, with ur amt of hop-ups, maybe a straightout cyclone wld have been better.

X, dunno if the discount is storewide, but i get a 10% discount from the list price on the hotbodies hop-ups and other 3rd party stuff. they also have a bigger discount on some chassis and rtr packages. not enough budget for the straightout cyclone .

ok, i'll try to put in some info in this thread that may hopefully give some ideas to those getting a cyclone s to set it up for drifting. here's a closeup of how i place the electronics : as my receiver and esc can't both fit into where the manual suggests it to be placed, i've double-taped the receiver on top of the servo; the power switch is double-taped to the receiver. i'll post some cyclone s setup sheets for drifting when i get the chance and have narrowed down my settings.

Hmmm... i saw b4 on the net that some put the reciever standing in (instead of lying flat) between the esc and reciever servo .. u might want to try that
