TB evo5 is a touring car. most touring car be converted to drift car with changing its settings.
its all up to individual preferences on choosing car. infact all car that AWD can drift. ;D

The diff between the two car is Evo5 have all the hop up option added, carbon fiber deck , aluminium shock etc, what yokomo have are stock stuff, so u need to upgrade the shock and carbon fiber deck IF U WANT TO, cos this will lighten the weight of the car and prevent from chasis to tweak. The shock is not aluminium. This depends on individual cos by the time u upgrade the yokomo kit to fully hop up like evo 5, the price u pay maybe more than a evo 5. So check with those who have yokomo and see weather which are the NECESSARY parts need to upgrade and compare the price. I have EVO5 so I am not sure abt yokomo, cos I dnt wish to upgrade any parts jus concentrate on drifting skill

sped...i've tried agp's evo5 and kido's yokomo, both cars are very well set-up and very driftable. i wouldn't say one is better than the other, cuz it's a matter of personal preference and how it feels in your hands depends on how you set them up, your transmitter choice and settings etc.
some other factors would be the ease of getting hop-ups/spares... stargek sells a lot of hop-ups/spares for the evo5, for yokomo you can get them through winnie or bryant but you'll need to wait...
other options could be hpi's sprint 2 or pro4, hotbodies' cyclone s or cyclone (if you have the budget). taising stocks almost all the parts for these cars so it's very convenient.
i suggest you drop by the bukit batok drift meet on sat nights and have a go at these cars, from there maybe you'll get a better idea of which car fits you better.

hmm thx agp, i was tinking it would b great if it comes unassembled =p cuz i like building hahs. those hop-ups u mention are actually not necessary as most of the parts are alrdy aluminium? unless ur a super hardcare drifter n wans a "solid" car =D but i tink im satisfied with wad it is. thx 4 comment!!

Oh, before I forget! Evo 5 comes with one way , so in order to drift(individual preference) I feel that front should change to a ball diff, I never use my one way during assembly , cos I buy this kit for drifting. But I saw in this forum some where that one way work better, as I beginner myself I think I start with a ball diff in front.

U can try drifting with original stock first... if u find it uncomfortable with it... Then u change to wat is necessary... no point wasting the $$$ so fast ... ;D

u can't put gear diff in front, need to buy one set of ball diff same as rear to install in front, what crash & burn say is right, try the stock setting of one way first, see u can drift with that, change later if one way dun fit yr driving style.
But before I purcahse I have feed back saying one way cannot make it that why I did nt even bother to try. if u suceed maybe I switch to one way to try too! ;D

ball diff must build. (as far as i know)
buy, build then put in front to replace the front one way. ball diffs for evo 5s have been mentioned somewhere in the forums before.

Stargek still has that package for a TB Evo 5 ball diff? Haha... Wonder how much would it cost... If too ex, would probably stick to a one way...

I dun think stargek have pre-built ball diff, not I knw of, cos I just bought two month ago, and I share with one of my friend who have evo. Cos some of the package sell in two which u only need one, so if you are lucky enough to know some one who will like to convert their evo to front ball diff, maybe u can save some $$$ ;D

i'm somehow tickled pink by this discussion about "hopping up" to a ball diff.. it IS up to preference however.. like i have mentioned in another thread..it depends on your driving style... the change to ball diff is not NECESSARY.. but if you feel its better then go ahead.. I think some of our newer drifters(or drifters to be) think that you you MUST change to balls for you to drift..
but if you do use balls .. the diff tension will also play a part in drifting.. speaking from experience with the TB series .. when i was using the TB-02 .. built both diffs the same way.. and found it very difficult to drift .. till i made minor tweaks in the diff tension..correct differential settings in the front and back will mean night and day when you're drifting. lol and back then there were people rushing to swap out their balls for one-ways or spools.. irony is nowadays everyone wants to swap out their one ways for balls.... or maybe i'm just getting too old..

I think most those on this thread are just interested in trying out different options. After all, the fun with RC is the trying of different settings and seeing how the car responds.
My take is, might as well try the diff/one way that come with your set first. Then once you know how it responds, try swapping it for another. I don't know about most others but I find that I have to run a particular setting for quite a while before I can exactly pinpoint how it improves handling.
