My friend and I buy this kit for drifting just to try out, we change the front one way to ball diff. Previously I have a TT01D, it is so much different .. the drift is much smoother and predictable.
I have no regret in spending 500 plus for this! secondly , there ain't anything for you to hop up, other than titanium screw which is not neccseary for drifting.
I have try silver can motor on this evo, not bad. but lack of torque. I just bought 18X3 turn drift machine from team orion, have not try it yet.

ok try the drift machine 18x3 turn, a bit too powerful, able to chase other car and make a long slide, bt the problem is after the long slide it seem a little bit weak on the torque, therefore unable to make a pin point turn after the long stretch. I guess need to re-adjust alot of setting to suit this motor. The run time is also reduce. i think i change back to stock motor to see the different (too lazy to do setting also) ;D

After experiencing drifting in the past with my trusty evo 4 and the 415. I should say i really love it... which is why bought the Evo 5 .. first of all..
1. If you feel there is not enough torque to push the car.. try dropping your pinion a few teeth. 18x3 is a bit of an overkill i would say.. but it can be advatagous with the right radio. Personally in my Evo IV i drifted with an SS5800.. which on its own is overkill for drifter.. but a few throttle curve settings on my radio, and all those who have tried my trust blue 'Stang/or that blue pickup. Will say.. It will take on ANYthing that comes its way. $98 bucks for a 18x3 motor.. and well i got brushless combo for 200.. and i used it for the better part of one whole year.. until a moment of madness (and the rain) fried my esc...but that's another story.. besides Runtime on the brushless.. is really good.. I've been known to last the whole drift session from 8++ - almost midnight on two 3600 packs only
2. My preference is to drift WITH the front one way.. I feel it holds the angle turn longer then a ball diff. And because of my driving style with the front one way and the brushless (high low end with no cogging) i rarely have to throttle when i enter a turn .. almost always i lift my finger of the throttle(not brake) into the turn and accelerate OUT of the turn. also in a tight situation with no way out .. braking with a front one way will do wonders.. you just need to get used to it..
3. settings wise.. not much to set on the Evos .. changing the springs were enough.. Yellow at the back .. white in front.. Diffs should be up to your driving style .. for a more aggressive style i'd suggest (with the front one way of course) it to a little loose.. this coupled with the front one way and the stock toe settings for the evo 5 (which is i think 2 deg toe out in front) and 1 deg toe in the rear.. will give you a LOT of steering and will push you INTO the turn harder..
my two cents worth people.. just sharing what i went through..

yellow at back? white in front ? meaning stiff in front and medium behind, ain't that touring setting? I thought all along they say should be hard rear and soft in front. Secondly did nt knw one way can work in drifting, that y spend extra $ to get a ball diff. Hmmm Should try out what u say bro..

oooh one way work!!!... one way work weally well.. (i know cheesy but lol) if you know how to control your breaking..one way looks nice and natural (not easy).. if you just pump brake to get the end swinging also can (drift easy but don't look natrual).... please note the front one way is beneficial in motors that have very little or no cogging. for the motors that DO.. means you cannot release your throttle.. wich almost definitely will shorten your run time...

it can enter , but i am unable to maintain the drift angle long enough for a long bend, which i can do it with a sport tune, any way i am trying out with 5.5 gear ratio tonite to see hw it goes.
I like sport tune but too bad it cannot change brushes

The rear suspension mount(stock) for evo 5 is indicate as 1E, can any one tell me what degree of toe-in is that? I think it look 3 degree to me, I wish to change to maybe 2 degree to try out the different. PLease advise on what to change to obtain a 2 degree or even 1 degree of toe-in in the rear. Please help
