Trial Drift Battle 21 March 2006
The evening came with a little downpour but luckily, the floor manages to dry by the time everyone reached and started playing.
Track was set with a lot of tight corners and many tactical straight to compliment it. Drivers experience a lot of difficulty when it comes to the battle itself. Many of the drivers were new to battles and therefore, I believe they were nervous and did not perform their usual.
The drivers were:
Ah Guan
Shiun
Jason
Cash
John
Andrew
Battle 1: Ah Guan VS Andrew (Andrew)
Battle 2: Cash VS John (Cash)
Battle 3: Jason VS Shiun (Jason)
Battle 4: Andrew VS Cash (Cash)
Battle 5: Cash VS Jason (Cash)
Battle 6: Jason VS Andrew (Andrew)
Battle 7: Ah Guan VS Shiun (Shiun)
Battle 8: Shiun VS John (John)
Battle 9: John VS Ah Guan (John)
Final Battle: Cash VS Andrew (Cash)
Last Battle Raw Video.
Size: 17.4 MB
Format: quicktime
I would have to say that among all 6 drivers, only Andrew is an experienced driver. In fact, he is one of the pioneers that started RC Drifting with us. Though experienced, sometimes, that is not the only factor in a race. He had problems with his car¡¯s setting and therefore, struggles to maintain on the top and he did pretty well, securing the 2nd position.
Cash, the king of battles, was the only one that walked away comfortably with the title. He showed great lines and smoothness, even though we, the judges could see that he might have been a little nervous. Overall, he performed with a lot of confidence and much more consistent.
Jason, the much anticipated newcomer, was very much nervous during his runs. We could see him driving in a manner that simply just surprises us. It just felt like he just started. But along the way, we could see him starting to perform again, but it was all too late for him to catch up. Still, he got hold of himself, a 3rd position. I strongly believe that we are gona see more of the up and coming newcomers taking the crown.
John, the very pioneer in RC, showed a lot of consistency but failed to actually performed as he should be quite new to battles. The concept of battle for drifting is to create a situation where you got to take the best line to pull away from your competitor and also runa line so unique and perfect that your competitor can¡¯t follow. John failed to see that but still do secured himself a good 4th.
Shiun and Ah Guan are newcomers too, they performed very well during drift sessions and practice but failed to bring their skills to the battle. Once again, I believe it¡¯s the butterflies in their stomach that is affecting their performance. But to do consider that its their first time battling, they did d**n fine. The 2 secured 5th and 6th.
