Hey guys i'm new around here, and i'm also new with drifting, but i own a /almost/stock Tamiya TT-01. The only thing i bought for my baby is this GT-3 Turbo 12x2 and i want to ask about your advices on how to make it better in drifting... What pinion do i need etc... Oh, and btw, my English is not very good, so excuse me if i'm making mistakes

If you are already drifting like the car shown in your avatar,, you prob won't need that much help. ;D Quite a few people locally upgrade the spur and pinion to 25/55 and have an aluminium drive shaft. But I find stock gears good enough. And as most others would say, "personal preference"! Sorry, don't know that much about motors but your motor shouns like a 12T ( ) motor. Probably not gonna be compatible with stock TT-01 ESC. If you have loads of questions, you can try searching the forum. But if local lingo is difficult for you, you can send a personal message for help.

lol, i wish i could drift like the car on my avatar, but sadly i can't. This is from one of the SG's videos (SGDrifters4)... Anyway... It don't seem to be any problems with the ESC handling the motor. I have driven it for a few days now and everything is ok... for now. The only problem is that my battery is getting warm, the motor drains it so hard... I'm thinking of buying 25/55, but sadly it's very hard to ship tamiya parts in my country... and i was told that 55 spur is not universal... it's strictly for tamiya models only. it's not like the pinion. As for the motors - i'm not so competent as well.

hey,
remember all the white plastic bearings you had to put in when assembling ur tt-01? the smaller metal bearings replace them (16 if my memory serves me right).
the 4 big ones replace the bronze bearings.

qks57, that's my next step man. I'm just wondering whether i mess my old rims or wait till i buy new ones... It's not the problem in buying, but the guy from the shop told me that they sell HPI components and not Tamiya's so he doesn't know if the rims of the 2 brands are the same, does both attach to the chassis the same way. If any 1 of you can tell me would be nice. *team trixie™ | X, thanks, now i saw them, they are 12 and the "bigger" ones are 4 as you told me. Thanks again!

d**n, i just figured that my TT-01 already have ball bearings. (this has to be " ", but i spend my money on something i already have... so... ) At least the shaft i'm sure is not aluminum. I guess i'm getting shocks next then.

Ok, now i have 2 questions... 1. Is there any way (except cutting) to make those things that the shell hangs to them smaller? the ones that are sticking out the shell. I mean those: Are there any replacement parts for them, something like the HPI ones that are adjustable... 2nd: How am i supposed to put 25T pinion on my motor when in my manual there is not such option, this is all that it says: And btw i'm putting pvc's next week! Yay!

Saw in another post that he does overseas shipments

Hi there, I know the problem of getting the right pvc tube in europe. they are all 50mm (messured outside). in german forums i read, that most people just cut of rings from plastic bottles and pull them over the tires. these rings don't last as long as pvc's but its a good compromise . cheers, Mike

Finaly i have PVC's!!! With a little help from my dad. They look really nice. 52mm rims were no problem after we heated the pipes. It was soooo easy, but my first try was tottal failure. Now when i know how i can make a lot of rims for myself and my friends!!! In the end of the week my alu shaft has to be shipped over the local shop. And i guess i'll order a spur and pinion. I ordered a new body - HPI Mazda RX-8. It has to be here in 2 weeks or so. My current body (Subaru Impreza WRC) is allready too busted. I'll use it for testing tracks and practices.

Erm, dont you think 12turns is a bit too much? Its not like you are using HPI drift radials which require a fair bit of power. I think you should downgrade to a sport tune or a silvercan. That way, you get more control and more run time. a 12 turn will chew through batteries like i drink coke(which is alot )

i noticed all that with the 12T. it's toooo much. Now i'm using my stock motor ( witch btw i still don't know if is the one you call "silver can" ) and the car is definitely more controllable with it, yeah, it's slower but more controllable. i'm thinking of getting the super stock motor or something, but i have to spend some money.

Just remember, drifting is about style, nt about speed ;D ;D ;D I also think like that, not like one of my friends with nitro drift... I don't like it at all... He is too fast and the beauty of the drift lasts only for a sec or two... I like the long, slow and continuous drifts. I'm still learning not to spin and think i'm getting there... The sad thing is that winter is coming and we don't have a lot places to drive... Not enough covered parking lots around... or they are guards and stuff, witch don't allow us to drive in... it was nice till now, the winter is allready late in my country, it should've started before 2-3 months, but it's just getting started to get colder. Never mind we'll think of something. The weather wold not stop us from scrubbing our tires/PVC's

Its great that its getting cold. You will see that your run times will go through the roof!! that happens to me everytime in winter in melbourne.
