ride height/springs/droop(downstops)
- u set ride right using spacers or adjusting the shock thread collar...
- adding a lot of spacers does not mean the spring becomes harder...
- adjusting droop is one of the most easiest way to change how the car handles. its fast and simple. what it does? affects the weight transfer front to back and vice versa. assuming ur car understeers on throttle, wat u can do is try reducin the amount of front droop(tighthen screw in). by doin tat, less weight will be transferred to the front, thus allowing the front tires to have more contact/traction. note: some times u need to change other settings, like springs, roll centres, but that requires more work, try the droop first, its easy and most cars have it. BUT TT01 a bit troublesome, they dun have the droop screws.

BUT TT01 a bit troublesome, they dun have the droop screws. cikgu, can i ask questions here (raises hand)? i've been thinking quite a bit about setup recently, so your post is of particular interest to me. some of the rationale you mentioned, for me, i have a different perspective on them. please bear with me and correct me if i'm mistaken. when you tighten the front droop screw, i believe it increases (and not reduces) the amount of front droop? because using a droop gauge as a gauge, the more you tighten the droop screw, the higher/more, in terms of mm, the front lower suspension arm lines up on the droop gauge. as for how turning in the front droop screws help a car which understeers, here's my take on it which quite differs from your perspective. when the front droop screws are turned in, this lowers the ride height of the front. as a result, the centre of gravity of the car is shifted forward. (to visualize this point, i think of holding the back of the car up while keeping the front down, to exagerate the difference - the cg moves forward). as a result of the weight being shifted forward, the front tyres gain more traction because the front becomes "heavier". (to visualize this point, i think of dragsters. their rear is much heavier than the front, to put more weight on the rear so that the rear has more traction from which to move the car). when the front traction is increased (i.e. the front becomes more "grippy") the steering becomes more effective, hence reducing an understeer problem. well, that's my take on it, let me know if you think i'm spouting crap ;D. |

wong ah wong... no wonder u got prob settin up the car...
but lets discuss on setups.. since we're not racing, we share, but as u noe ah, not all will be reveal!!! some will remain trade secrets!!! muhahaha
when the arms has more hang(screw not tighten) = more droop(higher number on gauge not equal to more droop, it jus indicates the distance normally in mm)... droop mah...
as i mentioned earlier, droop screws is not suppose to adjust the ride height... if u do tat, then u'll remove any weight transfer from tat end of the car...
for e case u mentioned, it does reduce the understeer(on throttle) why? since u've tighten the screw(less front droop), the car does not shift its weight too much(none at all if there's totally no droop) to the rear when acceleratin, thus more traction to the front...
also take note if front ride height is lower than rear, will allow more weight to be transferred to the front too, thus gaining more steering...
if u want to adjust CG, u can try to put spacer under ur bulk head, but tis will greatly affect the roll centre of the car... which will then affect how the car roll... this will be another story!!!

Less Droop
(more internal limiters) The car changes direction faster, and corners flatter. It feels generally more responsive and more direct.
Adding a lot of travel limiters is only advisable on smooth, high-traction tracks.
Reducing droop is the most effective way to stop your car from traction rolling on high grip tracks, you can use as little as 2 or 3 mm.
More Droop
(less internal limiters) Less internal shock spacers give better handling on bumpy tracks, and more and more consistent traction on difficult tracks.
Less droop in front, more at the rear. The car changes direction faster.
It turns in very well, but it could lose front traction halfway throught the turn.
More droop in front, less at the rear Makes the car brake better.
Rear traction feels consistent
