Time : 2pm
Locations (in this order of visit) :
1) blk 215A mscp, bedok
2) blk 507 mscp, tampines
3) blk 586a, pasir ris
4) blk 578a, pasir ris
ok, for the guys who have been following the east-zone drift meet threads you'll know that we're searching for a better location than simei blk 256a mscp, as we have found that this mscp gets a lot of traffic on sun afternoons.
we've also tried simei blk 248 mscp (the one just beside simei mrt). the sheltered levels have a lot of cars, and the top level's surface is pretty uneven and wears out the pvcs very fast.
we've also tried out simei blk 115 mscp, near shiddy's place. i think it's quite similar to the simei blk 166 mscp (near cash's place), bad thing being it's not near to any toilets/coffeeshop/mrt.
while going back from the last drift meet, zul, ken and me discussed the possibility of having a "drift tour" for the drifters to try out say 4-5 alternate locations and then have a general consensus to finalize the location. i think this sun would be a good time to do this drift tour.
tonight i did some recce and have tried out these 2 locations that were considered possible alternate locations :
1) blk 507 mscp, tampines, within walking distance from tampines mrt :
www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel/travel/travel.php?travel_id=1&travel_site=83542
pros
- near tampines mrt
- highest sheltered level has little car traffic (at least at night)
- just beside the s11-foodcourt
- ground is pretty good, similar to blk 256a.
cons
- may have police intervention(?) i think if we drift at the highest sheltered level it may be ok; if we drift at the top (unsheltered) deck this may generate some complaints due to the higher visibility and the fact that there are less walls to block off the noise.
2) blk 215A mscp, bedok, somewhere near bedok mrt :
tinyurl.com/2tn73g
pros
- very little traffic!
- ground is pretty good, rougher than blk 256a
- police intervention more unlikely as the mscp is beside a construction site (i.e. less residents nearby)
- big floor area
- near to coffeshops/toilets
cons
- DUSTY! must be the dustiest mscp i've drifted at so far
- floor signage seems higher than other mscps, but the floor area is MUCH bigger plus we can do the track around the bumpy signs
- a bit of a walk from bedok mrt, but you can take a bus (1 stop) from the bus stop near the bedor mrt exit
ok, you guys please suggest some potential locations, then we can narrow down to 4 or 5 of them, and hopefully visit them together on sun! fendi may or may not be joining us this sun depending on his work, if not we'll just take the mrt/bus/share a cab etc. to get around to the various locations.
criteria for the alternate locations :
- decent even concrete ground for drifting.
- preferably within walking distance from an mrt station
- close to a coffeeshop/foodcourt/toilet
- little car and human traffic
- minimal chance of police intervention due to residents' complaints
- last but not least, must be in the EAST ;D!
drifters please post your name and freq here too :
